We design, develop and manufacture open architecture PC-based products for machine and process control that replace older technology-based programmable logic controller (PLC) products. By using standard Windows-based PCs for machine control, Nematron’s customers benefit from reduced life-cycle costs, improved machine or process flexibility and improved integration of factory generated information through the Internet and into the high level enterprise resource planning systems.

Nematron is far more than a seller of industrial computer hardware or packaged automation software. We also provide integrated services, application design and continuing support for robust and reliable machine control systems. Our solution to the difficulties customers face includes a systems approach that includes industrial computers and monitors, a real-time subsystem to ensure reliability and integrity of machine commands, logic control software, human-machine interface (HMI) software, and engineering and application support during and after the project. Customers benefit by avoiding multiple vendor positioning, risks of non-compatible products, and extensive validation and integration costs It all adds ups to substantial total cost reductions

Nematron realizes that manufacturers do not want a software product that performs machine control. Instead, they desire a control system. We have developed our whole product model in response to their needs and wants. Our control system includes all the components for a robust, reliable system whose components have proven integration to ensure a unified solution for real-time machine control and HMI applications from a single source. Control engineers dispatched throughout the world, including at the largest PC-based program in the world, support our applications in place at entities small and large.

PC  A complete, reliable PC-based control solution starts with a high quality, rugged industrial PC. Nematron designs and manufactures a variety of computers and monitors for reliable performance in harsh industrial environments. We use the highest standards for materials and quality so that our products perform well even under extreme conditions. All of our hardware carries a NEMA 4/4X/12 rating when properly mounted, as well as UL and c-UL approval, CE mark, and FCC Class A certification. All Nematron hardware products incorporate innovative design features that simplify installation and maintenance and reduce downtime.

Real-time O/S  Most plant-floor machine control applications require real-time deterministic performance that cannot be guaranteed with Windows NT/2000 alone. Nematron developed HyperKernel, the first hard real-time subsystem for Windows NT/2000, to ensure performance and reliability of these critical applications. Transparent to the user, HyperKernel works side-by-side with Windows NT/2000. Machine control runs under HyperKernel while HMI and other applications run under NT/2000. This protects your control application against the introduction of poorly behaved third party drivers or software.

Controls  Logic control software acts as the “brains” of your control system. Nematron’s OpenControl software allows users to replace proprietary PLC technology with an open, Windows-based system, enabling enterprise access to the plant floor. With a high degree of flexibility, intuitive programming and troubleshooting features, it helps manufacturers and OEMs significantly reduce development and overall system life cycle costs.

HMI/SCADA  Nematron’s Paragon software is a powerful and flexible system for complete operator visualization, human-machine interface, supervisory control, and data acquisition. Paragon is tightly integrated with the rest of our PC-based control system, so you avoid creating and maintaining redundant databases. Our Application Manager acts as an “automation browser,” allowing you to build a system to meet your needs. The system is scalable to include whatever functions you require, such as HMI, logic and process control, data management, trending, networking, security, and more.
