SNAP Ethernet - SNAP-LCE controller

The SNAP-LCE is an Ethernet-based, stand-alone industrial controller designed for use with Opto 22’s ioProject™ software suite and SNAP Ethernet-based I/O units. The SNAP-LCE's small footprint and low cost give you additional flexibility in designing your system for monitoring, control, or data acquisition. The SNAP-LCE industrial controller:

  • Independently runs control programs you build using the included ioControl™ software
  • Provides data for ioDisplay™ or third-party operator interfaces (HMIs)
  • Provides data for OLE for Process Control (OPC) 2.0-compliant clients using the OptoOPCServer™
  • Communicates over a wired Ethernet network or via Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) over a modem (with firmware version 5.1c or newer)

SNAP Ethernet-based I/O units such as SNAP Simple I/O™ and SNAP Ethernet I/O™ provide the physical connection to all kinds of equipment and devices, whether analog, digital, or serial. In addition, the SNAP-LCE itself provides direct connection for up to two serial devices (requires firmware version 5.1c or newer).

SNAP Simple I/O

Opto 22 SNAP Simple I/O™ is the low-cost, high-quality system for customers who want to control, acquire data from, or remotely monitor equipment, machines, and devices via standard Ethernet networks.

Ideal for high-density commercial and industrial applications and for remote monitoring applications with high I/O point counts, SNAP Simple I/O can act in two ways:

  • As an I/O unit within a SNAP Ultimate I/O system. The SNAP Ultimate brain runs an ioControl strategy and controls the SNAP Simple I/O units.
  • As an independent I/O unit. You can communicate with an independent Simple I/O unit using Modbus/TCP, the OptoOPCServer (available separately), or applications you develop using the free SNAP Ethernet I/O™ Driver Toolkit.

The SNAP Simple I/O unit consists of a SNAP-ENET-S64 brain mounted on a 16-module SNAP-M64 rack with standard SNAP I/O™ modules. SNAP analog, digital, and serial modules can be mounted in any position on the rack (to a maximum of 8 serial modules). The SNAP-ENET-S64 brain provides a cost-effective alternative for customers who do not need high-speed counting, events, or some other features offered in SNAP Ethernet brains. For a detailed feature comparison, click here.

SNAP Simple I/O is easily configured using the ioManager™ software utility, included with the brain.

Conax Buffalo Technologies introduces Sterisensor™, a new chamber/load temperature sensor, thermocouple or RTD, assembly designed to withstand the environmental conditions found in pharmaceutical autoclave chambers. Sterisensor features a moisture seal engineered to prevent the ingress of moisture into the assembly. Moisture is the leading cause of failure in these applications.

Sterisensor uses PTFE-insulated stranded leadwire conductors with a thick-walled extruded silicone rubber jacket encased in a 316SST sheath. It operates in the temperature range of -50° C to +150° C (-58° F to +302° F) and pressure range from vacuum to 3.5 bar (50 psig).  Thermocouple Type T or RTD, 100ohm @ 0° C, l00385 ohm/ohm/°C calibrations are available, in a variety of sensor lengths and diameters configured to meet application requirements. Custom assemblies are also available.

Conax Buffalo Technologies also offers an extensive selection of standard and custom-engineered temperature sensor calibrations and configurations, sheath materials, terminal heads in various types, materials, and mounting styles to create the ideal assembly for your requirements.

Every Conax sensor delivers rugged, reliable service with accurate, precision performance at off-the-shelf pricing and turn-around times.

PCI Cards Offer New Options for Larger Volume, High-Speed I/O Applications

Looking for raster bus performance and a higher point count for your I/O application? Previously, if your direct I/O count per PC exceeded 96 points, you would automatically opt for Pamux. But now with the introduction of the PCI—AC5 adapter card, up to 32 cards can be installed in one PC, for up to l,536 points of high-speed, direct digital I/O per PC. Further, the PCI-AC28 adapter card, designed fox Pamux applications, can now interface with up to 16,384 points of I/O with 32 cards installed in one PC, overcoming the previous 2,046 point-per-PC limit. Our updated system overview for the G4 product line can help you find our how to maximize your point count and performance as you replace older ISA bus-based computers with newer PCI-based computers.

Softlogic Support Now Available for SNAP Ethernet I/O System

For the first time, you can take advantage of the power of SNAP Ethernet I/O to perform distributed control of your processes. Opto 22 has partnered with Norman Bragar Company, a provider of IEC 1131-3-based control software, to offer softlogic support for the Opto 22 SNAP-83300-ENET Ethernet I/O system. Now you can build control applications in familiar IEC 1131-3 languages and can execute those applications at the SNAP Ethernet I/O system level to provide distributed, high-speed, local control.

In addition to standard IEC 1131-3 functions, including PID, you can access a full set of math functions and can constrict your own custom function blocks in either structured text or ladder logic.   You can build your control application using familiar point-and-click ladder logic on a Microsoftâ Windows -based PC using PSA’s Process Automation Workbench, AnchorPAW. The applications can be instantly downloaded via Ethernet to the Opto 22 SNAP Ethernet processor where the AnchorPLC softlogic runtime system where the SNAP-B3000-ENET executes the program in real time.

Control variables can he accessed via Modbus/TCP for industrial connectivity. On-line monitoring can be enabled through the Ethernet network, while Opto 22’s Web server capability is still available to support your Web-based requirements.

The AnchorPLC softlogic system supports all Opto 22 SNAP I/0â modules.

the Fast Ethernet Rail Switches allow you to configure medium to large sized deterministic Ethernet/Fast Ethernet networks easily and cost-effectively.    An important feature of the Rail Switches is the fast media redundancy.    The failure of a transmission path will be recognized in less than 300ms and the Rail Switch will divert data to a redundant path.  You can activate this function via DIP switches on any Rail Switch.

Rail Switches RS2 also contain an SNMP management agent and integrated web-based management. These features provide you with simple, east-to-use configuration function for fast installation and setup.   Extensive network and device information also contribute to ultimate system reliability.
